Bacillus atrophaeus

Bacillus atrophaeus is a Gram-positive, aerobic, spore-forming bacteria phenotypically similar to B. subtilis. Bacillus atrophaeus is a species of black-pigmented bacteria. Bacillus atrophaeus has been established as industrial bacteria for the production of biological indicators for validation and routine monitoring of ethylene oxide, steam, dry heat, low temperature steam formaldehyde, vapor hydrogen peroxide, microwave and related plasma sterilization systems.
