The freeze-drying technology has been used in the preservation of bacterial strains for several applications, mainly in the production of probiotics for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders. Cell membrane-derived bacterial extracellular vesicles (BEVs) can transport various bioactive molecules to recipient cells, thereby changing the physiology of those cells. BEVs have been widely investigated as biotherapeutics due to their drug-loading capacity, immunostimulatory capability, and ease of modification.

The microbiota of the human gut has numerous beneficial functions, such as immune system development, resistance to pathogens, vitamin synthesis, production of metabolites such as short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), nutrient and drug metabolism, and maintenance of the structural integrity of the intestinal mucosal barrier.

Supernatants produced from cultures of different microorganisms show differing activities. Cell-free bacterial supernatants are promising anti-infectious agents, for example, for the treatment of diarrhea.

Communicate with the client to confirm the required strains for the project, then select the most suitable culture medium and culture conditions for preliminary experiments to gain a preliminary understanding of the strain's CFU. Subsequently, formal fermentation, freeze-drying, and counting of the final product's CFU are carried out to ensure compliance with specifications.
