Fusobacterium nucleatum

As a common inhabitant of the oral and gut mucosa with a strong affinity for tumor tissues, Fusobacterium nucleatum is being re-engineered for targeted oncology. By removing its pathogenic islands, it can be used as a vehicle to deliver chemo-sensitizing agents directly to colorectal cancer cells. Its application prospects are centered on its unique "homing" ability to specific diseased tissues.
