Candida tropicalis

This yeast is a common member of the human mycobiome, and engineered versions are being explored for their roles in the "gut-lung axis." By manipulating its metabolic pathways, it could potentially be used to outcompete more pathogenic fungi or deliver localized therapeutics in the gut. Its application prospects are currently in the early stages of niche-specific microbiome modulation.
