Listeria monocytogenes

Attenuated Listeria (with deleted virulence genes) is a premier chassis for cancer immunotherapy because it naturally invades antigen-presenting cells. Engineered strains are used to deliver tumor antigens directly to the host's immune system to stimulate a T-cell response. Its application prospects are focused on "live-attenuated" cancer vaccines for treating various solid tumors.
